Their biggest business was acquiring devil fruits and selling them to anyone that could afford them. The crew consisted of her immediate family, 2 scientists, and a substantial amount of marksmen. They were constantly traveling. To this day, Mardais is still not sure if she has a homeland. She was always told that she was born at sea.
The Lemieux family only had one rule. Any member of company shall never consume a devil fruit. They didn't want to have a reputation that they ate devil fruit themselves. Living this type of lifestyle is not what Mardais wanted to do. Day in and day out, being a treasure hunter for her family. Even though she had respect for them, she decided it was time to build her own life. With new dreams and lots of adventure.
One day, the company acquired a fruit they believed to be a mythical zoan. The scientist had not confirmed it completely. Within that same week, a marine had already made arrangements to purchase the fruit. Since her Aries star was in alignment and having a fascination with astrology, Mardais deemed herself worthy of taking it for her own.
Later that evening she gathered all her stuff. Leaving a note for her family, She snuck out onto the island they were currently docked at. Knowing that she could never return to her family, she gave a silent goodbye to the ship and escaped into the night. The Marine that was to buy the fruit was furious with the family, demanding who took it. No matter how many excuses they made, it did not save Mardais from being reveled as the culprit. With jealousy, he twisted the truth of her actions.( This resulted in a wrongful bounty on her head.)
Upon the consumption of the fruit, Mardais discovered that it indeed was a ram fruit. Giddy with the excitement that fate bestowed upon her, she set of to make adventures of her own. Leaving the current island on another small traveling boat, she pledged to herself that she would be a captain of her own pirate crew someday.
Personality
Mardais usually tries to have a positive outlook on most things. There are times when it gets the better of her. Strong willed and independent. On a scale of good & evil, Mardais falls in the neutral area. When she wants something, she will take it. That is the extent of her greedy nature as a pirate. She wont go out and play the hero in most cases. If it doesn't involve her, she is not in it. That is, unless the outcome benefits her to some degree. Very vocal about her opinions, Mardais has an ambitious nature. She strives to be number one, only in situations that effect her. ( Her last name means "the best" after all) With all the naught that she has, there are some good traits. If there is anything that is morally wrong going on, that is the only time she will intervene. As a captain, she is most likely to stand back and watch a member fight one on one. But as soon as that number grows, its all hands in. Her leadership skills are the pinnacle of her personality. She stays strong in front of her crew, and shows emotion even when she doesn't want to. Mardais also display's remarkable negotiation skills. This is to be expected from growing up in a family of traders.
Though she may admire the opposite sex like any other woman, Mardais is against romantic relationships. She has always felt like there was no time for that in the world of great adventures. This causes her to appreciate others for their traits. (NOTE: Don't confuse this with her not sleeping around. She is a pirate. If she wants to sleep with someone, she simply will. I think a lot of people look down on characters that sleep around. I want to portray Mardais as a more classic style pirate, hence the nixing of relationships and romantic feelings.)
Among these traits, she also tends to be paranoid. Example: Mardais will think about something over and over. Replaying every possible outcome. When the time comes, she will only try to think of the positive ones.
She hates getting caught doing something, but on the outside show a "so what?" type of attitude.

From the time she was little, Mardais ate plants. Her parents thought it was just an odd childhood addiction she would grown out of. This addiction stayed with her to adulthood. She grew to enjoy the taste of different plants and foliage. If it grows out of the ground, Mardais will try it. In her teen years, she started trying poisonous plants for different tastes. This of course had bad results the first couple times. Strangely that didn't stop her from eating them. Over years of consumption, her body built a resistance to some poisons.

Mardais loves the heat. The hotter, the better. Whenever possible, she will lay out in the sun just to feel the heat. This is an activity that she tries to indulge in daily.

Mardais wears a ram style hat she made herself. The hat has a thin plate of armor in it. Her corset style top also has a thin layer of chain mail in it. (Safety first, yo!) The hat also has multiple horn styles. Her pants lace up on the sides, making it easier to wear during combat. Brown boots, flat heeled with fray is her shoes of choice. She is rarely ever seen wearing any foot wear with tall heels. Mardais believes that tall heels would make her too vulnerable in combat. On occasions she will wear boots with a little taller heel, but no taller than 3 inches. Caramel colored hair, rather long, reaching about 2 inches above her thighs. Many times she has considered cutting it off, but she has a phobia that it wont ever grow that long again. Her eyes are a scarlet color, but a dull tone. Mardais has a bust that would be considered a high medium, normal large. (Nami, Robin, Boa have extra large breast btw.) Classic flat tummy with shapely thighs.
Mardais has two tattoos. On her left arm the symbol of Aries, her birth star. Her right arm has lighting bolts that wrap around twice. (NOTE: Mardais may not acquire this tattoo until after her fight with her future first mate. If that is the case, she gets this tattoo to cover up the scar from his bladed whip that wrapped around it.)

Mardais is a baby devil fruit eater. (meaning she has had her powers less than a year.) Due to this fact, she does not has not tapped into her potential. Most of the time she struggles with any type of transformation. In the future, she will be able to only do one half transformation and one full. Mythical Zoan users take 10 times the experience to harness their powers. No body should be able to eat a fruit and know how to use their powers immediately. (Except CP9 for some reason, lol. But they were very experienced in combat for years.) The only current show of power she has is the following.
- She will sink in water
- Due to small self training, she can concentrate energy into the impact of her hits.
- Because of her habitual plant addiction, Mardais has a natural resistance to poison. She ate many plants in 23 years of her life. Most of these were consumed before she ingested the Ohitsuji-Ohitsuji no mi. This process manifested through the human body's ability to build resistance and anti bodies.
Example: Mardais is no where near as strong as Luffy, not even close. At Impel Down when Luffy fought Magellan, he was rendered extremely weak when his poison venom touched his body. The only benefit that Mardais would have had is that the poison would take longer to effect her. In the end Magellan would have still owned her ass. (In about 7 years though, her odds would increase. That is a lot of poison resistance after all.)
She has ambitions to someday seek training and guidance from an experienced mythical zoan user.
Fun Random Facts/ Canon Interaction
- There is a period where she does encounter the Strawhats. This is before she gathers her own crew. As a favor, they allow her to reside on their ship until they reach the next island. During this time, she bonds with Usopp. Once again, this is from the astrology influence. (Him and her sharing the same birth date and star) Fascinated with hearing all his stories about their travels. (and the plants of course!) It will be revealed that Usopp designs the jolly roger for her future crew as a goodbye gift.
-Both Mardais and Usopp share my birth date.
-Luffy never asks her to join his crew. He recognizes and respects her dreams of becoming a captain.
-Upon hearing all the stories of the Strawhats. She decides that she will someday train under Marco of the Whitebeard Pirates. (This is a BOLD leap for an OC, but in the future I may let this idea come to fruition.)
-Mardais is a vegan.
-Her epithet "Goat Bitch" Was started by the Marine responsible for putting a wrongful bounty on her head. This was decided after a photographer captured her picture while eating a yellow gentian for the first time.
